Only genuine candidates should get chance

Madam,

I being a grass root level Congress party worker would like to draw the attention of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president towards the following fact.

There are two types of candidates, namely, seasonal leaders and ticket dependent leaders who seek party tickets during election times.

The seasonal leaders are persons who declare themselves as public leaders during election time.  They never visit public places during the time of natural calamities, epidemic and never take part in development activities for general public. They only appear during the time of election, seek party tickets and disturb the genuine public servants, who have been serving the people dedicatedly. These types of persons should not be issued the Congress party ticket as they will stand as main element for losing election.

The ticket dependent leaders have no grass root level supporters and they have no public recognition and self confident. They contest election if only get party ticket.  This type of leader generally   says, I will contest election if I get Congress party ticket. If party does not issue ticket, I will not contest. They depend only on party workers and other organizations. Recommendation of such candidate by state level party office bearers is also another cause of losing election by the party.  They recommend their kith and kins but not the candidates having winning prospect.

Therefore, I as genuine Congress party worker would like to appeal the AICC president to issue party tickets to genuine candidates with grass root level supporters for the 13-Itanagar Assembly constituency in particular and Arunachal Pradesh as a whole in the forthcoming Assembly election. It is also requested to send a team of central observers keeping aside all the state office bearers of APCC so that only the genuine candidates are selected for party tickets.

Yours,

Vijay Bengia

Recognition to good works

Madam,

Ever since Balo Raja became the elected member  of Legislative Assembly from 18th Palin-Chambang constituency, the people in general have become busier than before. There are remarkable developments in agriculture and horticulture sectors and rapid progress is seen in education and health sectors. Unlike in the past, there is more scope for farmers to sell their agriculture and horticulture products due to road connectivity.

There are three major roads –one, from Palin town via Dari Dado, Tahu, Kurayer to Chambang;  two, from Tamen through Dahil to Chambang and another road starts at Palin town through Yaglong, Pania, Rechtaring then to Chambang. These roads connect entire constituency into one big village. Yet there is another road that is in the halfway from Lot in Ziro-II via Namha Charbia to Chambang.

He has successfully sanctioned and established three main administrative blocks – ADC headquarters at Pania, CO headquarter at Tarak Langdi and sub-divisional Centre at Gangte. Another major achievement is the launching of the 50 bedded hospital at Jorung, 2 km from Palin town. In educational sector, Yangte and Old Palin middle schools have been upgraded to secondary standard.  During the five year tenure, he had done a lot for the entire people of this region. The Farmers’ Welfare Society of Palin area will keep on supporting such a person who has shown great concern for the general public.

Yours,

T Mohan, Chairman

The news of switch in loyalty took us by surprise

Madam,

The news clip appeared in Arunachal Times on August 12, regarding the withdrawal of support by the people of Namtok Circle of 53 Changlang North Assembly Constituency from Thinghap Taiju camp surprises every one.

It has been the habitual tactics of Wangia Pongte, the sitting MLA to engage some hired youths to write against a genuine and a real leader like Taiju, an aspirant contender from the same Assembly constituency when assembly elections knocks at the door.

There are great resentments amongst the general public for lack of development during his last 5(five) years tenure in this entire constituency.

The road linking Pongte's Yankan village is in depleted condition making it difficult for vehicles to ply throughout the year. The Changlang-Margherita road, Changtang-Khuchep road, Namtok-Margherita road including Changlang District Headquarters township roads are also in a dilapidated condition.

The economic conditions of the public, except his few relatives of 53 Changlang (North) are in a pathetic condition. There is no reason why fresh workers should join Pongte.

Some join Pongte’s camp for personal benefit only. The people of Changlang are regretting their decision and stating that "Pongte ko vote deke galti kiya”.

The six signatories of 12/08/09 paper release are all original workers of Pongte and they were never the supporters of Taiju. The statements given by them are false and misleading.

The recommendation of Congress ticket appealed by the six signatories may not be considered as Pongte though Congress Party sitting MLA had used his key workers to campaigned in favour of Arunachal Congress candidate during the last 15 Lok Sabha Election which proves his anti-party  activities.

Rather there is appreciation that under former minister T Taiju initiative the Namtok Circle, government Secondary School,  Primary Health Centre besides others were established for the welfare of the people of Namtok circle. There is no question about people withdrawing support from him.

People of both Namtok and Yatdam Circles have expressed their aspiration to extend full support to Taiju in the ensuing assembly election.

We the following Panchayati Raj representatives including all public leaders strongly support Taiju. We will work hard to see that he wins this assembly election.

It is our earnest appeal to the Congress Party High Command to issue ticket to a winning candidate like Taiju from 53 Changlang North (ST) Assembly Constituency.

Bad dream

Madam,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to record my deepest sense of gratitude to one and all who-ever visited me and enquired my well being following injures sustained on  Aug 06 at around 8:15 pm while facing 3(three) unknown hooligans near RKM Post Office who pounced on me through unnecessary provocation.

I also condemn the attitude of the on-lookers who neither came to my rescue nor informed the police to tackle the situation on the spot.

I wish my physical injuries to heal soon. But it will take long to forget the mental bruise till I get used to be comfortable with discomforts around or forget the episode as a bad dream!!

           Yours etc.

Madam,

The Gate way of North Eastern Region, Guwahati is quite comfortable to make a patient to wait for continuous seven hours to check up for H1N1, a pandemic virus, who was coming from Pune as appeared in several news media in the light of present turmoil of Swine Flu. The State Arunachal Pradesh is also in deep slumber to be vibrant with present scenario of the other parts of the country. They are not estimating, numbers of people coming to the state from the places which have been declared Epidemic area of Swine Flu. Such luke-warm response to declaration of WHO and the nation would cost heavy prices. The rule of social conduct to have perseverance is necessary in such situation. It is better to be Watch Dog in time than to be a curtsey Receptionist of any H1N1 virus infected patient.

It must be accepted that the ‘State’ does not identify itself with physical power for its own sake; it is power to protect and to impart the highest welfare of the humanity. The protection and precocious measures would be more fruitful than to initiate welfare plans and programs to cure H1N1 virus infected patient in the state.
